Going to college is expensive. Not only is it so expensive that you will need to take out loans to cover it, but so much of your time will be spent on studying that you will hardly have time to work and cover your living expenses. The following are just a few ideas of ways that you will be able to scrape up some extra cash in order to cover those bills. You’ll find that with a little effort you can easily make some extra money; it’s the next best thing to giving a call to mom and dad.
One of the ways to make money in college, which you are probably already aware of, is to sell your used textbooks. While you have the option of waiting in line at the college bookstore in order to get back 10 percent of what you paid, you will find that you can get most of your money back if you sell them online. This way, you’re cutting out the middle man and getting most of the money. It is best that you hold onto the core textbooks for your major though, as you may need to refer back to them at some point.
Another way you can raise quick cash is on eBay. Go though your attic, your room, your dorm room and dig up anything that may be worth money that you no longer need. You’d be surprised how much stuff you can dig up that you can get a few bucks for. You may also want to spend some time applying for college scholarships. There are some great opportunities out there and while you may not be guaranteed to get one, it never hurts to try. Your college will be able to help you apply for scholarships that they participate in and you can find tons more just by searching online.
Yet another way is to test video games. Most college students already spend hours and hours playing video games. You might as well get paid for it. Check out my other post on the 3 simple steps to making money playing video games.
You can try to make some money online as well. If you know a bit about how the web works, you know that just by having a blog you make some money on the ad revenue that your site brings in. Just keep in mind that anybody that tells you this is easy is lying to you. You have to have a fair amount of experience on the web to really make anything worthwhile. If you have the time though, it just takes some research and practice, so it doesn’t hurt to go for it.
Finally, there is always the option of tutoring other students. In order to do this, it’s obvious that you need to be a good student yourself and know a lot about the subject you are going to tutor people in. You must also be a good teacher and get along with people. If this sounds like something you’d like to do, put an ad on the school bulletin board on in the school paper, this is the best way to reach people that need your services and you will not have to pay much for the ad.
